Alright, just looking for advice and opinions on which Digital SLR I should buy with my student loan. Im not looking for anything too high spec, as cost is an issue.

any advice would be appreciated!

I only really know my Nikons so ill suggest a D80 or a second hand D70s if thats too expensive. Canon probably have a few good options too.

I use a D70s and i highly recommend it if your just starting. Might have mine for sale soon if i can afford to upgrade to a D200

well im looking at around 300 - 400 quid might not be alot. Ive had experience with cannon 350d or something like that.

400D is the upgrade from the 350D, tidy camera ive used one. The Nikons are equally as good really.

the 400D is a great camera, im a canon guy so dont no about nikons.
for that money i would get the 400D and some nice lenses, depends what you are wanting to do with the camera.
im getting the canon 40D next month.
the lenses are more important than the body that you get now adays depending on what you want to do.

Aye im looking at a D300 aswel. Going to be pricey though and its lenses that really make the difference

i dont this the D300 will be out for a couple of months and it will be pricy.
if its just a complicated point and shoot that you want (ie not have diferent lenses and just keep on in) i would go for the 400D with a 17-85 lense.
something ok for portrates and parties and stuff and wide angle for landscapes.

D300 is expected to be around £1100 body only.

D200 - I got one the other week and fuck, its a great piece of kit - coz of the D300 release (Which is selling like hot cakes and out of stock in most places til after xmas) the price should come down again after xmas. I paid £729.99 for mine, Body only.

Seriously, its an awesome bit of kit. Yeah the D300 is good, but the D200 does everything you'll ever need unless you take it up really seriously.

I actually have a Canon 350D I bought off JohnnyR, he just owes me a tripod but I cant get hold of him in any way. He doesn't sign on messenger reply to U2u etc.
