Isn't that American? I thought it was: "I'm arresting you for ... You have the right to remain silent, however anything you do say may be taken down and used against you as evidence."

Not nitpicking, just never heard an English copper say "court of law"

Caution:

You do not have to say anything but it may harm your defence if you do not mention now/when questioned something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given as evidence.

End it with a little Do you understand?

Probably took your phone number because he may need to contact you in the near future?

Normally I only do this when its a mobile phone offence, i.e. driving whilst using a handheld mobile phone

No he doesn't have to caution you when giving a verbal NIP. I always caution anyway because it doesn't prejudice the prosecution case and it means any reply or the lack of one can be used as evidence in court.

Right if i get summoned to court i will get the 6 points and the will orfer me to do a re test.

so then i start on a provisional again and once i have passed my driving test again i will be back on full licence,

i have been reading that the 6 points get cleared once you have passed your test agian and you start with no points again???

is this true??

I havent read the rest of the thread so If you didnt sign anything and you werent told you were gonig to be prosecuted for such and such then i really think you've been lucky and he's just given you a warning.

Normally i good bollocking from an authority figure is more effective than the actual fine itself.
