I was wondering... how much some of you guys do on the flat chest press with DB's compared to bench press. Same reps and sets would be ideal

e.g. Flat bench with DB's is 3 sets of 8 with 25kg / Bench Press is 3 sets of 8 with 60kg

Bench press with Smith machine I've being doing 10 reps at 70kg, 10 reps at 65kg, and 10 reps at 60kg

Dumbells I did 10 reps at 20kg to warm up then 10 reps at 22.5kg but felt I could go higher so did another set at 25kg.

My weights have been up and down latley with illness etc but i'm currently flat benching 130-140kg and with incline dumbell press im using 60-65kg's (120-130kg).
As for reps, i always aim for 8 but if i have more gas in the tank i'll push for 10, yet sometimes i only manage 6. Depends on how stong i feel and how well ive eaten that day.

Oh and might i add that i have to have a spotter with the DB's, sometimes 2. I'll lay down and then have them handed to me. Trying to get 2x 65kg's onto your legs then up in the air takes just as much energy as the actual pressing movement, so a pointless waste of energy. Not to mention it's asking for an injury and i'd probably end up dropping one on my head

You DB press 65KG on each arm? Jesus.

I've just started with 40Kg's and thought that was an achievement! They're so much harder than BB at the equivalent weight IMO.

Still doing 20kg dumb bells for shoulders but using the cable machine now too, not sure on the name?

75kg for lat pull down too.

25kg dumbells for bench press today pretty much did me in!

I haven't been to the gym since i finished work on the 21st, i hadn't really been that week either so its been like 3 weeks for me!
I feel ok though as i had a few niggling injuries which needed rest, what better time to do it to!
I've put on 7lbs over xmas i ate like a race horse! Not to worried though as its going to be half water weight!

Bad news is though, i think my body is starting to backfire, i think i have a case of piles fun fun fun

Can never tell by scale weight, i go by how i look in the mirror/pictures. But seeing as i haven't worked out for about 3 weeks i know the 7lbs i've put isn't goin to be good weight gain

Worst thing is, i can't do any squats or really stressful stuff at the moment incase i have got piles it will make them worse, but as i've been speakin to people lately heavy weight lifting and piles go hand in hand
I've ordered some cream off the net anyway see if that gets rid, if not its off to the docs (dont want to though as my arse is a one way passage )

Just got back from the gym and cannot believe how busy it was. Hopefully it's just all the New Year Resolutioners that are only temporary because I couldn't get on any of the machines I wanted without waiting for 5 minutes.

Had a good workout overall though.

one on the runners is a smith machine, they are shit and promote unnatural movements which is why most people get injuries from them
