the 993 is a great car, its an everyday car that you dont need to worry about using, unlike the 911sc or one of the main reasons they cost so much to service is due to the ammount of oil they use!
my dads had one for about 1-2years now and only proplem he had was the oil filter seal broke.
the old 911carrera he has needed new shafts and that was it. good cars!

yup.... my 911 is dry sumped, and takes something like 13l of oil
Buil tlike tanks
If we purchased a 993 it would be garaged, but used as our 'daily'.... which is more a weekend car.
I dont drive to work, fee doesnt drive to work..

yep...once we've got the garage built, most of the cars will just be stored in it!
I've only used the alfa rubbish once in the week and a half since you've been away and that was only for about 5 minutes

What are folks thoughts on 993's over the 996 and even 997?
I think it has much more character... and still being aircooled is a
Spectacular car.
In my opinion, the last real 911.
It all went down hill for me after that.

yup, same view... 996 and 997 are nice, just not as special. Softer and more mass market....

Neighbour has a 997 C4s convertabke and it looks awfull But the 997 GT3 RS is nice
Would take a 993 GT2 over them all though... so daft looking its brilliant
So NOT daft looking Adam.
Saw a caged, black, road trim example on split rims with gold centres parked in the paddock at Lydden last year.
Such presence. Gorgeous car.
Other favourites/choices of mine would be the 964 RS, the Ruf Yellow bird, the 934 RSR and the 935 (Martini colours of course).

Spot on Adam. They tried to rob a slice of the exec market by making them more appealing to the sort of fella who'd normally have a 7 series.
