I have a Compaq with AMD 64 processor, but there is only 1 gb of ram, can I expand this in any way?

I'd say so.

Will probably need specific RAM to that laptop though.

What information would people need to be able to help me with this then? I know nothing about installing RAM etc lol

Laptops will normally have a small plate on the back that you can inscrew and gives access to the memory modules.

Undo that and see if their are any free spaces for more memory. If so note down the part number/name and either search for that same stuff and buy that, or search for something similar.

Also looking for the comp spec online should inform you of the max memory you can have so will let you know if you can upgrade.

Is there a removeable panel underneath the laptop? (will be held in with screws)

So my assumption from that link is that I wouldneed to buy 2x 1 GB sticks of PC2100 DDR SDRAM?

The PCxxxx could probably be higher, but yeah to the rest of it.

The ebuyer budget ram is £45 a stick, so seems like its expensive ram
