I just try to keep ontop of any general shit that I make during the day, then will clean on or two rooms at a time during the week.
That way I hardly spend anytime really cleanng the place.

I've tried cleaning one room per day. End up spending about an hour a day cleaning that way.
Tried cleaning once a week but i then end up leaving dishes in the sink for days and days. Also, cream carpets start looking rather dodgy.
Think my primary issue is not keeping things tidy. Need to train myself!

on the issue of plates etc, rinse everything off and pile it on the side, and get a days worth to make it seem worthwile and do it all at night in the advert of a tv program
on cleaning generally, leave it till it gets bad and then blitz it like colin said, you will feel better if u can actually see the difference, as opposed to just knowing uve done it. do it all at once as well, otherwise like u say u end up spending forever in 1 room

Took me a year to get a routine sorted, best thing you can do is tidy-as-you-go
At one point i had to spend a day doing 5/6 machinefuls of washing, now i do odd loads in the week and hang them up on the airer instead of putting the tumble dryer onto overload!

I'm going to try and clean a room per night before i go to bed. In the middle of doing my washing, and cleaning the whole house as i type.
Plan is to then do a room per night starting from tomorrow and do little bits of washing from time to time. Then do the ironing once a week, probably weekends.

If you hang stuff out on a maiden to dry instead of using a dryer (if you do!) it will cut your ironing time right down as most stuff will only need a really quick going over.

I tidy as I go through the week. Hoover if needed. Kitchen I tidy every day when I get in.
Usually on a Sat/Sunday morning i'll get the dusters and bleach out. Give it a good clean.
I hate living in a mess.

tidy as i go during the week just so that the house isn't messy and then actually clean the whole house on saturday mornings. playing loud music really helps. i can have it all done in just over an hour.
