When my PC is under load it stutters, like if your playing a song it sounds like fat boy slim has got hold of the thing.
Its running ok still, it stutters for maybe 1 or 2 seconds.

have you tried defragging the system, if only using the Windows defragger? (Accessories > System Tools)
have you run an antivirus scan / spybot scan?
have u completely filled your hard drives?
Have you got too many programs running at once (an easy but quite inaccurate way of checking is by looking at the number of icons in the bottom right corner)?
last of all post some specs up.

I'm gonna go through a few things tomorrow - my drives are quite full but it didnt affect my pc before I went away. There's not too many progs running either - could it be graphics card on the way out?

Try updating or reinstalling the software you are running to play music.

Im running the latest version of iTunes and I rarely use Media Player - which incidently isnt open anyway.
