hello folks bit of help with the timing please ...just changed H/G when setting the timing back up, crankshaft pulley is bang on, so is exhaust sprocket, but the inlet sprocket wont stay in position it like SPRINGS down, but rite down facing the sensor if you put it back on the mark just does the same thing! SPRINGS down ?????? what do you think the problem is?????

, i just changed my head gasket and that on my x16xe corsa and my cams stayed in the right place ? what engine is it?

the 16v's do spring back its normal. just hold it with a 15mm spanner on the pulley when putting the belt on. may help if theres 2 of u doing it

mine is an x16xe and I thought it was a bit strange it was springing, cause we did my friends and they stayed in place...could pistons 2 + 3 be at the top rather than 1+4 causing this??

they will spring back mate, you can buy a timing tool that slots between the cam sprokets or you can hold them with a spanner like lee said. just make sure you turn it over by hand first when you've got the belt fitted before you try to start it, you can get the crank 180 out

tis a bit strange how some stay still and some spring back?? must be a reason for it thow...Will try using a spanner me thinks!

I removed the cam cover, and got a mate to hold the cam in the right plate with a spanner on its flats.
Then fitted the belt
