To be fair the players are just as much to blame, asking for £100,000+ per week

Someone should really look into it and put a stop to it IMO

Gotta remember Cosmo i look at it from a Conference level, the money you guys make is crazy!

But i suppose its only like looking at the wages we earn here and what a third world country person would earn.

I think my point is that if they are seriously looking at this as a route of making more money then they are going too far

Yeah, something needs to be done, but it needs to be done atleast European wide, as something just over here would ruin the English game with all the top players going where they know they can be paid a fortune.

Yup i'd agree with that.

Would also improve club bringing young players through IMO as it would encourage clubs to put them on long term contracts paying a lower wage so as to not take up much as the budget, rather than buying someone and paying him £60k a week.

Dont agree at all really. These days clubs are spending millions on acadamies, so its always in their best interest to bring youth players through.

Not to mention the new UEFA rules allowing younger players out of their contracts after a few years regardless of if its a 4yr or 100yr contract.

Yeah but is the tallent coming through enough? Apart from a few at Arsenal, I cant really think of many young players in the "Top 4" clubs that have been at the club all their life.

As for the UEFA Rule, they'd have to change that

The talent cant come through if its not there. If the clubs are spending the money producing and running the acadamies, plus bringing in local players from the ages of 7,8,9+ then you cant blame them if the talent just isnt there in the area.

I mean look at the last 10yrs with Liverpool where we've had the likes of McManaman, Fowler, Carra, Gerrard, Owen, etc. all come through as they werent talented. I now watch our youth teams win the FA Youth Cup two years in a row, with majority home grown players, and not many of them stand out as being able to play top flight like those lot did at the same age.

You either make them play inferior players just because they are local and home grown - but this lowers the clubs quality, or you add to these youth players with both quality foreign youth and also experienced players.

If the FA told you to play there, you'd have to play there

Interesting article in the mail yesterday about it, had views from a few football people, from what I remember from reading it:

Steve bruce can't see any negatives from it
Jamie Redknap thinks it's worth looking at
Lawrie sanchez thinks it's never going to happen because of the home and away format (can't follow shitty baseball or nfl that don't always face eachother) every season).

Can't remember who else commented.

What a fucking ridiculous idea. The American public don't understand football, They might be able to learn the rules(ish) but they don't grow up with it like British people do. You could fill a stadium with a million Americans and the atmosphere would still be crap. How is that good for the game? The fact that Football makes people as passionate as it does is the only reason it is so popular in the first place. Crap idea.
