Fuck that. Today my ABS came on for a long time. It's the first time it's ever happened. I was driving along, needed to slow quite quickly, but as I was doing so I hit a bump. It was something like a manhole cover in the road. My ABS kicked in and it was the scariest thing in the world. The car just wasn't slowing down very quickly at all, in fact, if I was fully in control of the brakes I would have stopped in a third of the distance Thought I was going to go into the back of somone as well.
Stupid idea having a computer in charge of your brakes

ABS gets in the way, along with traction control.
But, when you need to brake and steer at the same time in a panic (kid in the road etc) its nice to have that failsafe there

It's crap with slippery surfaces, but like pow says, sometimes you might just jam the brakes on and it would be better than you.

Not drove a car with ABS for ages, but always feel more comfortable having it. My corsa's tried to kill me far too many times. Luckily cadence braking seems to come naturally

On my pug you can turn everything on and off using the menu in the head unit.
I've turned mine off as it's a pain in the arse. Left traction on to save the tyres though

After having owned a car without ABS i never ever will own a car without it ever again.
The main problem with not having ABS is not that the wheels just lock, but when that happens it makes the car start to spin/serve off line. Not having ABS was one factor in me not being able to avoid the accident that wrote off my old car. If my B would have had ABS it might have been just enough to help.
Theres been a couple of times even since ive had my C where ABS has helped me avoid hitting someone. Most recently was this past friday on the M25. Someone in a white van pull out into my lane while i was already half way along side them. I had to slam my brakes on hard in lane 3 of 4 of the M25 doing 70mph. I would NOT like to do that in a car without ABS.
