I bought this car in jan of this year as i have always wanted a mk1 project.
It was originally a 1982 1.6 gti but was converted to 1.8 after the engine blew up.
The conversion was done using a audi 80 dz engine with a larger inlet manifold and larger throttle body.
everything in the engine was replaced before fitting and i have receipts for most of it.
I ran the car for a couple of months before i decided to start the work.
It was sent to the bodyshop where it had loads of work done.
IT HAD
chassis repair panels under rear beam replaced (both sides)
chassis repair panels under boot floor replaced (both sides)
lower rear quarter repair panels (both sides)
complete rear panel replaced
rear arch's replaced (both sides)
complete outer sills (both sides)
complete front panel
2 new wings
inner wings repaired
and all 4 arch's where rolled
Then the whole car was painted and cavity sealed
underneath was then given 4 coats of waxoyl to stop all the nasty stuff.
mechanically is very sound it always starts 1st time and runs spot on i change the oil every 3 months.
Bits i have fitted in the time iv'e owned it.
jamex coilovers 9 months old
omp group N exhaust sytem
omp upper strut brace
power rohr pipe fitted
braided brake pipe all round
new front to rear brake pipes
15" BBS RS 001 split rim alloys with new centres and new tyres done around 1500 miles they are 7j front fitted with 165/50/15 and 8j rears fitted with 175/50/15 tyres
polished stainless rear strut brace
Raceland polished alloy showcage
cobra monaco S black vinyl bucket seats with white piping 3 months old
proper cobra subframes 3 months old
sabelt 3 point harnesses 3 months old
dubweiser polished H plate surround
VW motorsport polished battery cover
drilled front discs
new leads,plugs,header tank
smoked cross hair headlights
smoked front indicator lenses
polished inside door pulls.
alpine components and HU
polished mountney steering wheel
The list goes on and on
The car has a stripped rear with a false floor and carpeted back end
it drives superb and has never let me down.
The car has done 174k and is used as a daily driver.
It will come with 12 months mot possibly 13 months if i get my finger out and test it this week
or you can make me an offer take it as it is.
Tax runs out end of this month but i will tax it for the new owner if they pay the £99 for six months.
There is a folder about an inch thick with stacks of receipts and a few old mot's
Looking for 4k o.v.n.o for a quick sale it stands me at around 6.5k and has an agreed insurance valuation of 5k.
i also have lots of spares for this car if the buyer wants to make an offer for them including mint bonnet and tailgate off a sa import
double thickness blue top tint windscreen in mint condition
clear rear window with no heater element
4 14" bbs ra's with new tyres (winter wheels)
plastic windscreen trims
3 sets of rear lights
crystal front indicator lenses
spare headlights 3 in total
original GTI steering wheel
and whatever else i find in the shed
piccys of all work and how it is now.
how i bought it

In the bodyshop

Out the bodyshop

Started the wheel rebuild

Stretched tyres on

wheels on

And how the car is now all finished

few interior piccys

it also won best daily driver at dubs in the pub

sorry for all the piccys
The car is very good but like i said it's a daily driver so gets used.
wheels could do with a freshen up and a few things finishing off but all in all a great car and always gets loads of looks

Now I bloody hate volkswagens Paul, but even I had to wait for the pics to load and stared at almost every one intently.
The car looks so neat and very cool. You've produced a very sublime, tasteful and eye catching look for the car. I'd love that to potter around in.
Really VERY well done.
Such a shame you have to sell after all your hard work, time and money.
Some lucky blighter is going to reap the benefits of all your effort.
I hope you get good money for her and that she gets looked after.
Lovely little car
