Well some of you may know it isnt my week and last night i snapped a exhaust manifold stud flush with the head (well little bit in the head tbh)
Well rather then take it to a garage have decided to tackle it myself (learning exp and all that and try and save some cash)
am looking at buying a tap and die kit from wilco my questions are these.
What kind of drill bit do i need to drill out the old one and what size?
then what bit do i use in the tap and die kit (comes in various sizes will get a link up in a min if needs be)
i know ill have to get a stud n nut from vauxhall main dealer..
but how far do i have to drill in the head?

i'd getsome to do it for the amouint of money it'll cost vs potential to ruin the head

Drill Bit - a decent quality drill bit, smaller than the bolt... a few mm smaller to start. Best with a pillar drill to get it straight (if you can).
Tap and die - use the same size/thread as the bolt was
Measure distance on a hoel without a snapped bolt. Use a depth gauge on the drill

lol drilling it and retapping it can be quite expensive
on the other hand so can a new head lol..
all i need to know really is how to know wen to stop drilling and how deep to go

thansk that cleared a lot up bud
i thing though this bolts are like stud's with a nut on i cant take them out can i, well without a stud extractor i suppose? thanks sorry if am asking questions like a fucking retard just wanna get all the info together really

dont get you... has the stud snapped clean at the face of the head, or is there enought to get a couple of bolts on and locked?
Ok... think i know what you are saying now... re read!
Yes, just put one nut on, then a 2nd and tighten them against each other and then use the inner one to unsrew thes stud.
