Got the hd dvd player with my xbox 360 set it up on saturday, purchased latest harry potter dvd (amazing film anyway)
all i can say is
got a 50" panasonic plasma and a jamo surround sound system.
colours are so strong and vivid, the detail is nuts
recommend geting the player for the 360 comes with a wicked remote which u can use with normal dvds in the xbox too!
got 5free hd dvds coming as well. Serenity. Children of men, world trade centre, i forgot the otheq 2. Got them as a free promo!

no region coding on hd-dvd james
however, if you buy a combo disc, the standard dvd side will be region coded so you will need a multiregion dvd player to watch that side
get transformers, its amazing in hd.
even my missus noticed the difference and she thought hd was just a gimmick until she watched transformers and was amazed by the difference in quality

Blue-Ray and HD-DVD are the same quality and the PS3 is more capable than most standalone Blu-Ray players.

Children of men is a good film, WTC is absolutely shocking; I was so close to just giving up watching it half way through
Welcome to the world of HD though

I think the prices will come down over time. I can't really justify paying £23 for a DVD but that's just me.
Quality is much greater than DVD but all paid at a price.
