imagine if newcastle had not sold him. we would have lost more games. his typical bramble style clearance for wigan on weekend was amazing. good to see he is still at his peak.

Good championship defender - shocking premiership one.
Still, Newcastle lined our pockets in exchange for him!

The biggest enigma in Premiership history imo, did he not win an England cap at 1 stage as well?

When he was with Ipswich he was.
He'd probably struggle to get in the Ipswich team now, but he'd walk straight into a team like Luton (for example) I reckon.......

Good for a team bottom of league 1 then He'd probably be ok for a side like QPR tbh but I don't think he'd get in any of the top sides' line ups.

In all honesty I truely believe that our defence is in a much healthy state than last season, however lack of cohesion due to injuries and Allardyce's mystifying tactics have caused problems which we really shouldn't have to be dealing with

I'm all for giving the bloke time but even you must admit that his selections and tactics have been some what questionable of late

Didn't understand saturedays selection at all. Martins in midfield and Smith up front
Pissed me off more though after the game when Nigel Pearson was saying how well we'd played
