i have electric speedo clocks in my corsa now but because iv changed the engine the speedo doesnt work, but iv got a set of mechanical clocks and a speedo cable but would i need to change the loomb for the clocks becuase the plugs are different or are they the same for the electric things lk petrol and rev counter?

good luck, thats not a small job, will need a new loom and the backing to the dash, then pushing the loom through the bulkhead

i didnt have to much trouble with my xe conversion i went for electric to mechanical clocks the wiring of course was different on mine cause i had to wire it to the xe but apart from that it was easy mate the rest is just the same

its a simple swap mate, just fit the new cable, clocks and sender and it should all work fine. Loom isnt any different really, difference is that the mechanical clocks actually make the vss (vehicle speed sender) signal rather than relying on the sender to generate the signal for the ecu.
some of the early mechanical clocks and ecu's were different though and a different type of VSS pulse was needed for the ecu to control the idle control valve but it should still work fine.
I had a problem once so I had to build a 0-5v square wave signal generator to stop the car cutting out when the clutch was pressed.
