Right i've finally pulled my finger out to make my own projects and builds thread lol. Brought the car about six month ago now i think. It's a clean one lady owner from new 43k shell in pretty much mint condition.

Had a few bit and bobs but can't remember everything.

2.1 16v
headwork
piper cams vernier pulley
bigger piston
lowered compression
fuel regulator
2.5" Touring car exhaust manifold ( not sure of exact make )
2.5" exhaust with 3"tailpipe
H&R coilovers
Front and rear strut braces
front and rear whiteline anti roll bars
uprated bushes

All it really need was setting up

Thats pretty much how i brought it

Then come a bit of good old weight lose

Scott doing a bit of work for a change lol

We also found a volt gauge then set about fitting it

Bit random but looks quite cool at night

Then my exhaust started blowing and started doing my head in, so rang up jamsport and got the car booked in to have the exhaust fixed and to have the car set up on the dyno.

Turns out the car was running like an old dog and only made 140bhp on the first run and was running dangerously lean, after a while on the rollers playing with the fuelling it made 166bhp 164lb torque.
Hoped for a bit more but when i drove it i was very happy, car was so smooth and pulled like a train .

Then a week later gave the car a well deserved clean and took her out for a spin, then bang. Lost all it's power and started to rattle like a tin of screws. Started it up after i pulled over and then only way to desribe the noise is it sounded like a diesel starting up, only 10x's louder. So next day me and scott set about taking her to bit to see what we could find

one for scott

Gave lee mitchell a phone call and he ran me through a few things to do, then we realised we were a bit out of our depth's, so put the car back together and pushed it round the corner call recovery service and got it towed 1 hours away to lee's.

After further inspection turns out it was caused by a broken valve guide, but because i didn't hear it straight away it ...........

Took chunks out of two pistons
Smashed piece of valve guide into head.

oopppsss

So after that little mishap the engine got........

4 New pistons
New bottom end shells
Head stud kit
Head Gasket
Head was skimmed
6 New valves
Valve guides

Also brought a quaiffe ATB diff at the same time

Because of all the new parts had to change oil at 200 miles which only took me 2 days lol, again at 500 miles then still taking it easy up to 1000 miles.

Cars running very well glad to have it back, just gotta get the car back down to lee's now to get the diff fitted.

Think thats about it lol, sorry for the long story.

Just like to say incase people start arguing, the engine going bang was NOT caused by jamsport.

Thanks for looking Chris

Nice project

The only thing putting me off doing a redtop conversion with my car is that they dont seem very reliable

they are reliable m8 i had 2 small block xe engines and i had more trouble with them than my current 2.0 16v engine, and anyway they are worth the small bit of unreliability if u get it for the rewards in fun

both my small block engines had less than 35k miles on both

*** Little update ***

Cars back now after a few weeks, got the quaife atb diff fitted and it's a fooking awesome bit of kit . Completly transformed the way the car drive, corners so much better than it did. The diff just pulls you into corners.
Also fitted a pair of sport seat ( cheers Warren ) which are much better than the standard club seats as they didn't really have supportive bolsters and you fell like your gonna roll out of them lol.

Oh and also de-badge the car aswell, pics will be up next couple of days.

I see what you done there mate

Jr yep hoping to go to the rr day.
