Maybe some young uns, not first team players

Grimandi could go into either pot... had some great games but also some appalling ones

You got money back for half of those bad signings plus the money recouped for the youngsters that don't make at Arsenal, i'd say his signing policy is 2nd to none.

Yup, have to agree. He also seems to make a fortune on decent players who want away...Overmars and Anelka being two!

£50+ million for Overmars, Anelka and Petit none of which arguably reached the level they did at Arsenal

Only bad moves are Wiltord... paid £13m, left on a free... Jeffers cost £8.5m, left for maybe £2m and Reyes cost £10.5m, left for £8m maybe less

But for every Reyes there is an Overmars... bought for £7m sold for £25m with a career threatening injury on the way, Anelka signed for £0.5m and sold for £23.5m, Vieira signed for £4m sold for £13.6m etc. ect.

I think his trick has always been making good players play as a team, and thus individually look much better than they are. So that explains why when they move away they rarely reach the same levels they did with Arsenal.

Was just about to post that

If you get a team playing passing flowing attractive football your always going to have suitors willing to pay mega bucks for them.

I wish we could find the Eboues, Clichys, Adebayors though they're all worth 2, 3, 4 times what you pay for them within a couple of seasons!

Nope, £10.5 in the end I believe, the £17m oft quoted was incl appearances and goals etc. which he, obviously never met

And agreed with your prior comment, Petit is a key example... he was so good because of Vieira, without... he was half the player

Eboue, Flamini, Diaby and CLichy all cost around £2m each

Toure was free, Gallas was (effectively) free, RVP was £3m, Cesc was free, Adebayor was quite exp (up to £7m apparently)

Diarra was only £2m but he wont last long, whinging cunt

That there is the reason his policy is so good, 7 million becomes an expensive player in your team even though he's 23 and is good for 1 in 3 in the Premiership. The other top clubs spend anywhere between 15 and 30 million looking for that type of player

I think Walcotts biggest problem has been injury so he has not been able to get regular first team play recently. A majority of last season he was playing with a shoulder injury which he should have just had the op on in the first place and taken the hit. End of last year he was also out for a large period - then got fit again and just as he was getting into the team got a lung infection which has taken him out again.

I think hes quite good but needs to improve - Very similar to Lennon except hes getting the runs in the teams he needs to progress.

As for all the bad buys that Wenger has got - well you can can get away with it when you look at the books from the last 5 years, not sure many teams can get close in terms of £/performance

As for the not liking English tallent - he has not problem - he just does not give them a preferance over others, if the english kids don't produce they don't get the place which is the way it should be.

Upson was unforuntate to be there when they had a world class defence so not supprising he moved on, Bentley was a prat simiar to pennant was when he was young Richard Wright - lol I think something to do with him becoming a fat lard might have something to do with him not progressing - back to the initial point - don't put the work in you won't get the place.
