Someone gave me an ipod the other day along with the cable so i could put some music on.

I have no software to do this, I just opened it up as a drive and copied mp3's onto it but now she says she cant find them.

Is there something I have done wrong, this method works fine with the cheap mp3 player I have.

Thanks

it's not like majority of mp3 players, you can't drag drop tracks you need to add them to the players database.

I wouldn't use Itunes if you're only wanting to upload tracks (infact i wouldn't use itunes at all) but try > gtkpod < - it's pretty small, quick and free, and allows you to upload tracks to your ipod.

You may need the iPod drivers etc so your PC recognises. They should be readily available from the Apple website though.

hahahahahahaha....yeah

on a mac it's alright-ish, even then i use VLC. On pc it's shocking - it's slow and far too intergrated into the whole apple bollocks. As a player it's shite doesn't support flac or any decent loss-less codecs, as a ripper it's jitter and error-correction algorithms aren't brilliant and as a place to buy music, it's far too overpriced for the naff quality you're able to download.
The photo and video side of itunes is even worse.

Personally i use winamp, it's a better player, plays all of my loss-less media, supports ipods straight out of the box (upload/play/delete music and videos). and doesn't try to run my life for me.

deano - not always, players like winamp support ipods out of the box and i've never had to install drivers.
