I paid £350 for a 3Gb drive around that time. Ridiculous now when you think about it. This is why I'm not an early adopter of anything any more

Our first pc was a Gateway in 1997 1.5gb and 150mhz processor! It also came with Encarta!

I must have been later than you lot, I had 233mhz with a turbo button and I think I may have breached double figure hard drive space.
I hadn't actually, it was 8 gig.

mine was a 44mhz 386 with 1mb ram and 20mb hdd.
i spent £80 upgrading it to 2mb ram lol

i remember when doom 2 played in hi res mode on my mates PC because it had a DX math co processor 
i had to upgrade to 2mb ram to get doom 2 to work 
also had to play around with EMM and XMS extended memory, the joys of config.sys and autoexec.bat

I remember owning a 486 DX, bought Doom from pc world on floppy disc and it wouldnt even run as the pc was not up to the job I was livid then and still to this day I am bitter,
