I took my car to a garage as the ecu light was lit up on the dash.
They plugged in the ecu fault finder thing and they told me it was the egr valve causing the problem.
I took it to another garage and told them it was the valve and they replaced the valve with another 2nd user one that i got of here.
Basically its still doing exactly the same.
Do i need to get the ecu reset or should it sort itself out over the next couple of days.
PLEASE HELP!

Well the garage tested the 2nd hand vavle and it seemed to be fine.

When mine was brokened it was swapped over and working fine, as far as im aware, straight away.

I dont know what they used to test it and no it wasnt a vauxhall garage.
Just spoke to the garage that swapped the valve n they said they think it could be a problem the electrics.

All you can do mate is leave the battery off the car overnight.
If it still comes on the next day its probably still a stuffed egr

Richie is right. this then removes the fault code memory, and the ECU will be in "learn" mode for about 100 miles i think.

did they fit new gaskets? they often leak due to them being a sheet mtal design. we usually re-seal them or get a new gasket. also it may be the EGR passage in the head that is blocked rather than the EGR valve itself being faulty or an electrical problem.

I had this problem with my GSI and had 2 ungenuine and 2 genuine EGR valves with new gaskets/seals and many tech tests and it never got sorted. so i just left it and the light always came on when under load.
