still cracking on with the house, last weekend and this weekend it's now moved onto the kitchen area.

Concrete floor prep'd with a wash of PVA then 10mm tile backer boards fitted.


joints filled and scrim taped.

then I laid the blinkin U/F cable Thursday night in the utility

then the kitchen

... i called it a day at 11pm when my head stated to hurt!!

(note to one's self..... next time don't listen to father in law, buy the cable already on the mat... sod the £120 saving the cable kit is over the mat kit, as time is money anyway!)


today/Saturday the 400x400 porcelain tiles get put down


back again tomorrow to do more and start on the cuts!!

Lookin good mate...i'm goin to bed tiling the bathroom and the kitchen. Just wondered what the backer boards were for?

How much does it cost to run them compared to say central heating or uder floor using pipes and water?

they act as an insulation with the u/f heating, they stop the heat going into the concrete floor.... wasting money!!
it also acts as a waterproof layer too.

well worth it as its made a nice surface to work on





I have no idea yet how much they will cost to rn the u/f heating, but its only really to warm the floor tiles to stop them being cold when you walk on them.
