Hi, ive been after a LET for about 2 months now and someone at work is selling one, basicly it includes the engine, inlet, exhaust, turbo and f20.
But does'nt include- Shafts, mounts and intercooler.
He wants just over £900 for it, is that a good price for it? he says it runs and does'nt knock or smoke.
Any ideas if this is a good price??
Cheers!

What car is it out of? As unless its a corsa or nova, the mounts will be useless anyway I think, as will the intercooler if its standard cav or cally.
Not too bad a price though I don't think, are you able to see and hear it running?

Shafts and mounts are useless, downt need to worry about them. Intercooler you can pick up cheap enough.
Couple of things. Millage, condition? You will probibilly never know the exact answers to these questions. I would never buy an engine without hearing it first.
Also it doesnt have the F28 box which will set you back about another £300 or so

but i heard that f20 is better due to its short ratio?
i dont know the milage but its been rebuilt by a company and it cannot be started due to being just taken out.

F28 is better tbh. The F20 will give up eventually with that sort of power.
I bought a LET that was ment to have been rebuilt a couple of years ago. Had 8 leaky valves, 2 shot pistons and a score in the bore. You siply never know the score until you have taken it apart.
Have you honestly priced up the conversion cost?

An f20 wont last very long on a tuned LET, theyre just not tough enough. I think the Ratios in the F28 are the same, just with an extra gear on top

ah i see, well i was gonna take it apart and rebuild it myself, but i was thinking i could do it at a price of £2000 but i dunno
But the list is:-
Engine and rebuild about £1350 as i will do most the work myself
G'box £250
Fitting kit £380
also i need to put extras in like intercooler etc

personally i would stint on anything with a high power engine. There will always be unexpected costs involved

You cannot budget on rebuild costs without taking it apart and measuring everything. Plus £450 on rebuild parts won't go far.

so what engine will everyone reccommend to put in on a budget like that?
my mate is having a turbo put in from a 1.6 would it be worth having that cheap and rebuilding/doing that up??
