Heading out with my dads Nikon SLR and wondering if there would be any setting to make the photos better, going to be mostly landscape photo. would like some really nice ones, almost dusk here. any info would be grand.

Tripod as it's getting dark and put it in 'A' mode F18. The shutter will be around 2-8secs depending on light so use the self timer to avoid shake.

Post up the results.

When not shooting landscapes stick the camera in Auto and shot away.
