Don't need tax but should be roadworthy.
What are you towing with? Transit?

when you say it should be road worthy do u mean the breaks lights reflectors tyres etc? erm probably towing it with a kia 2.9 turbo diesel so that shouldnt be too much of a problem! il have to book my trailor test soon before i decide to buy 1! thank you for replying with a decent message i appreciate it mate!

Try harder next time, you'll get there...
Anyway, I'm sure the caravan club has an interesting book about caravans. Even tells you how to drive with a caravan

theres no mot or tax for caravans just hitch them up and your away though the law did changed some years ago (97 i think) and you now have to take a seperate test to say you can safely tow a trailer/ caravan etc rather than it being already included in your original driving license.

My family have had a caravan for 18 years
i've never heard of a MOT or Tax, nor heard of a driving test*. insurance companies (both car and caravan) do get interested in the weights, so dont try pull a 16footer with a Micra!!
for piece of mine my Dad got the gas lines checked every 24months or so and had it serviced every three years on average which looks at electrics, plumping and gas, particulary the cooker and fridge and then the road worth parts like the chassis, body, axle(s) and brakes
*in my experience with the ATC the Sqn have our own mini bus and those who are able to drive it (old enough for insurance) can tow it, the CO does ask that they complete his basic reversing test (round a corner) first though and a trip through town for everyones piece of mind.

My uncle owns a Holiday Park and he let me reverse a 32 foot caravan into its position with the Range Rover.
My cockyness soon disolved and the stress was unreal, Alot harder than you think. The tow-away one's arent as difficult but still a mission.

like said the law changed in 97 i think.. limiting the towing weight to a small single axle trailer with a MAM of 750KGs.. to tow anything larger like a caravan (or drive a large mini bus more than 12 seats) you need to take an extended test..
check the codes on the back of your licence if your interested..

Tbh, your better off all chipping in and buying a small motor home and just cruise about, no faffing around setting it up or anything, and non caravan road users won't be caining your ass off as you hogging the lanes
