Looking for a nice shiney newer car this year hopefully. Narrowed it down to a few. I appreciate this question has propably been asked before but just after some info on astra mk4 gsi.
CTR (maybe not enough torque for me as I had the ek4 vti and found it quite flat)
Leon Cupra R 225 (maybe a bit too big)
Astra GSI turbo mk4
Clio 182.
Now just wondering if I can have some advice/views/opinions on the Astra. Looks like you get a lot of car for the money and they start at £5200 from what I can see.
How thirsty do people find them?

Jambo, have you modified yours? Engine wise that is?
I find mine pretty good (for a 2L turbo), back and forward to work can average 35, with a range of about 330 miles.
Admittedly around town it drops a bit, but usually find it can do 32MPG with a mixture of driving, and almost always more that 300 miles to a full tank.
To the OP, I've had mine for over 3 years now and can't fault it.

Yeah mines modded, Byron aparently got similar performance from his..
240 to a tank TOPS. 28mpg max. 30-32 on a long mway run but most of my driving is town driving...
Calibra and corsa i had before where far better on fuel!

I have one
Full s/s and induction kit
I find the mpg alright, its not too bad at all
I'll get back to you when the vxr turbo and front mount are on
tbh I didnt buy it for mpg, they're lovely looking cars, and out of the cars you have in you list, I wouldnt imagine them being any better on fuel
I did find it a bit boring, but coilovers and a few tweaks will sort that out, as Im not overly confident with the handling as the back end is twitchy,

I think mine has dropped considerably since putting one on from cone filter...does pull cleaner around the rev range at 60odd
Nice burble but not worth the money!

Yeah, I've noticed a few as well which seem to be pretty highly priced.
I think theres some on Pistonheads just now for up around £9,000.
In saying that, I don't think its as JinThaMC says in being too expensive for what it is when you look at what it comes with as standard (Cruse Control, 1/2 Leather Recaro's, switchable TC, ESP, 200BHP), athough I'm not sure what the alternatives come with as standard.
Also, I wouldn't be put off with any with higher milages (60K+), mines on 108K and still goes as well as it did when I got it.
