Guys,
I bought my nan a little purple Corsa a few years ago, and it's been great, but recently the front seatbelt hasn't worked. It won't click into place, so she has had to use the passengers.
The MOT is due soon, so I said I'd pop to the breakers and get one for her...
Her friend has looked at it, and it's a gas seatbelt, or something? WTF?
What's the situation with this? How can you replace it? Apparently it's £40 for the part, 2nd hand, and then it takes ages to fit it, and you need someone who has a special tool, as if the gas escapes it's ruined?
Can anyone shed any light on this? I really wanna help my nan out...
Also, is there any other seatbelt that'll fit? Can I nick one out another car to save effort, time and money?

It's easy enough to say "Just replace it."
How? It's connected to some gas device apparently, and you need a special tool and someone with knowledge to change it, and the part costs £40!
Anyone know where I can get it cheaper, or whatever, and any tips on fitting it?

You may need to take the seat out (was a while ago). Thats just 1 bolt and slide it forward.

yep, remove the plastic cowling by the door so you can get to one of the seat rail bolts. At this point also put the red clip into the pre tensioner as its shown on the pre tensioner itself, as it doesn't sound as if this has gone off yet.
Push the seat right forward so you can then access both seat rail bolts (T40 torx bolts in my car), then tilt the whole seat forward (subframe as well) and slide it forwards off the front catches.
Once its out, it will be easy to see what to replace.
