just read this on another forum
quote: 11th April 2008
NEWS FROM CASTLE COMBE CIRCUIT
This week we start on a serious note. The local Police have informed us that on event days here, even mid-week track days, they will be setting up speed cameras on the approach roads around the local villages. Therefore in your own interests please, when visiting us, respect our neighbours and ensure that you drive within the local speed limits. We want your visit to Castle Combe Circuit to be an enjoyable one and not starting or finishing with a fine and points on your licence.

Thats a good shoot Paul, Its very easy to get carried away on those roads on the way into Combe... Especially when in a convoy.
Will save the 3 figure speeds for the track me thinks Thats what its there for afterall.
PS: PLEASE DON'T RAIN

there are also speed cameras on both directions of the M4, usually there's police cars parked up in the exit slips of Leigh Delamere services

Thats worth noting, also my father travels down that section of the M4 DAILY and notes at least 3 mobile cameras a week between junction 14 and 17 (combe junction). This section is well known for mobile vans and has the worlds biggest speed camera signs up on the side of the motorway.
And before anyone says they don't work on a Saturday etc, my father has the 3 points to prove they do
Its well known they start gunning from 79mph upwards, so stick to shy of 80 on your speedo if you see one
They are normally white vans with black text written on then, and rarely park in the middle of the bridge
Wouldnt want any 3 point posts following Saturday

^^ they are virtually unmarked as well. I do the same stretch of road pretty often.
If you see a van on top of a bridge anywhere west of Reading, its safer just to assume its got a camera on it

But they still do appear
When you don't want them to. Like when your doing 3 figures round a bend on the Mway, and there is one of the lil fuckers

Not that any of us do three figures on the motorway though...
Surely this just proves that a 70mph spped limit nowdays is just pointless...

Not being funny like but if you're attending an action day/RWYB at an established circuit then you really should anticipate a police presence on the local vicinity
