Had them sorted about 8 months ago and told him to weld them up etc. Just realised that the passenge one is cracked and rusted again. Why is it body shops are full of shit. He clearly hasnt welded it and just stuck filler on it.

Ive seen ones that have had the cracks welded split agian, they really need streghtned behind the piller so they dont crack again

yeah its a stress point either the weld can crack or it can jsut move the pressure to slightly lower down, but you should be able to tell if it familiar

i think the proper way of doing it is to drill a hole either side of the crack to stop it goin further, weld it up and smooth it off, then weld a plate onto the back of it

why do they crack anyway?

ive never had a problem on my pre 97 corsas

Apparently there put under too much stress(from the weight of the roof etc) than they were designed for

he has welded it id be 95% sure, i welded mine up and the repair was fantastic and 2 years later it cracked agin

yep he probably did weld it

it will just crack again. welding a stress point is a waste of time imo. it will always crack again. needs to be strengthened behind (inside) the pillar for it to not crack again

I need mine done on both sides, but can't justify having to paint both sides of the car if I get it done. Think I'll just drill mine at either end of the crack so the crack doesn't spread and then seal it from the inside so no water gets in.
