So my corsa was losing coolant, narrowed it down to timing chain gasket.
Lovely, spent all of yesterday stripping engine, replacing gasket, broke a few things in process.
Put coolant in it and an engine flush, fired it up, coolant starts to drip from water pump pulley.
Pulls of mount, fan belt & pump.
Got new pump today and fitted.
Fired it up psssss coolant pishing out from thermostat and i had nipped a wee hole in a coolant, ran up to my work as it was back of 5, got some casing sealer, fixed thermostat, shortened nipped hose.
Fire car up, starts running like burst ball, cut out, wont start.
Think i have mucked up my timing.
Raging.

have you actually touched the timing? The alignment on the 1.0s and 1.2s is so precisce, a couple of mm out and you would be suprised how much difference it makes... If you have been running the engine upto operating temperatures while loosing coolant you may have cooked the head. Compression test and a block test would be a good start

Yeah gonna do them tomoro but my compression tester is in my toolbox.
Had timing chain and and tensioners off as you need to to get into the gasket.

VERY strange if you have coolant leaking from behind the timing chain gasket. The only water ducts behind there are ones in the head and the sleves of the combustion chambers

I'd rather waste an afternoon and do it myself, always good to learn something new, think i'll just end up paying though.
I couldn't even change the oil at the weekend because when we went to take the sump nut off it's some square socket thing that i've not got.
Garage full of tools and I haven't got the bit needed to do something as simple as an oil change
