Is the sulpher smell straight away or once its been running a bit, warmed up?
I dunno when my impreza was down on a coil only giving 10% duty or something it ran like that, sounded like that (amid the flat 4 burble) & was majorly down on power. No sulphur as I didnt have a cat it did reek of fuel though!

well first time it was after it warmed up..
but today i never really let it warm up and it didnt smell at all, so im wondering if it could be the ignition module.. im just trying to find someone who will let me try theirs.

possible cracked manifold. Ive seen a couple of 2.2 exhaust maifolds crack. They were only hairline cracks so may be worth pulling it off and checking for certain

Coil thingy bob what ever they are. My mates 03 plate clio did the same as yours. Replace 2 of them and run sweet

A cracked manifold wouldnt make the car loose looooad of power though.....would it!!? It would just run rough & really noisy
Id be looking for an ignition part failure chris!!

could do, if the labada isnt reading correctly due to a lesser volume of exhaust fumes passing it, it will alter the cars fueling etc to try and correct it. Diffinately sounds exhaust related though. Have you checked the baffles in the backbox? might have collapsed and could be causing the noise and lack of power due to insufficient air flow

good luck, the sulphur smell is the unburnt fuel going through the cat.
