my mate has a gsi x16xe and it runs like crap, revs take ages to build up and after running a while the manifold glows red.
ive taken the cat off and full exhaust and its exactly the same. What can cause this?
The engine managment light doesnt come on?

thats sounds rather dangerous lol. is it an aftermarket manifold and exhaust?

Is the engine timed up correctly? has he had the cambelt off recently?

sounds like its running very lean to get the manifold that hot.

standard manifold, now has de-cat and has full stainless system.
I have checked timing and all marks line up mint.

just cant figure it out, what can cause this?

it takes so long to rev upto 4k then revs fine. sounds like exhaust is blocked but makes no difference with no exhaust on??

anychance the manifold/down pipe could be blocked up?

Got any other downpipes from your spares you could try out?
