We have had CCTV up for some time to keep and eye on the cars, I was thinking about how to get it working with the PC mate was telling me tonight you get some kind of scart thingy for the pc? scart to usb?

Anyone know of this and if so where i would be able to pick one up from?

You can get PCI cards to hook the cameras in to, then use software to record. I've always felt that would be a bit less reliable than a proper DVR though.

We have the DVR at our shops linked upto the net and you can log in from any PC with net access and view the cameras.

Means if the alarm goes off we can look before we go up and see if we need a baseball bat or just a torch to reset it

I have had alook on ebay and all seams to have diff connections, My cctv is just some scart plug that goes into the back of the video player then video into tv?

I've had an ebay pci capture card running for about 2 years 24/7.

Software isn't the best but certainly does the job, just plug the cameras into it.

Normally bnc connectors, you can get adapters.

Ian i have found a PTZ camera for £40ex vat with a 1.3 CCD

Axis video server will convert the old Analogue feeds into digital, can then be setup for remote monitoring / recording / motion detection emails or sms etc...
