Comet, Currys and the likes have laptops for that price. I actually picked up a display model for £250.

I'm looking for a cheap as chips one too, literally only want it to surf the net, nothing else what so ever. So i can sit on the sofa and read sites etc instead of sitting on my pc, whats the cheapest ones like that around? doesn't even need to be very fast, just wifi

Dell have some in that range. They've got one for £190, but that might be a business laptop.
