I cancelled mine at 30%, by pressing O, not turning off the console. Turned it on, went to do a system update and it said it'd already been done. Now when I go to the Marketplace the icons don't appear on the right, but I can still browse everything on offer.

Mine was also about 15 minutes.

Im happy now with the online network on ps3, this update was needed.
Its a free service, some people expect an update to change there world

Im sure there will be another update and plenty more functions to come.

Same could be said about Microsoft releasing the 360 with a major fault
At least the PS3 update is an easy fix...
