im with orange
and basically im going travelling in november and my contract is 35 a month...
I wont be using the phone so theres no point keeping it going..
can I change my tariff to say £15 a month lowest option available and only pay 15 a month?

Maybe but probably not. Migration policy is you can lower your plan once and only by one price point.
That has to be after you have had your phone 1/2 of your contract. i.e 9months of an 18month
If your out of contract or near the end just cancel it

it will have been about 13-14 months of my contract.. I thought I had to pay the remaining off?

usually you do. Just call them and ask. if you signed up before they changed the T&Cs you can probably change plans, i could august time last year so you should be ok.
