Hi all,
Heard recently you can use the above on cars and get good gains from them?
http://rallynuts.com/motorsport/ARP%5FConrod%5FBolts%5F2043/
Was looking at these but wondering if this is the kinda thing to look at??
And what else would need to be done??
Cheers all

Yea depends on the engine. Mine is old enough to get away without any ECU...but the newer engine will probs need some management.
Another thing you'll have to pay out for is the inlet manifold!

erm not really, the carbs wont need mapping, you only need ignition only management with carbs, theres a guide on it in total vauxhall other than that give bogg brothers a ring

It'll be going into a X16XE and was hoping to get after market ECU that can monitor the throttle bodies.
Hoping for at least a 97 engine, but would i be better off gettin an older 1.6 and puttin carbs on or?

True, i would prefer Throttle bodies.
So basically, if i were to go for throttle bodies like in the initial link. Would i then need to get aftermarket ECU so they can be controlled, and a new intake manifold and custom adapt them to the new manifold?

Yeah you would need to get a new ECU which can be mapped to run them and get some sort of adapter/manifold to make them fit your head. As for the age of the engine Id just go for the one in the best condition because performance wise the difference will be negligable

or just buy a kit that includes a plug and play loom, ecu with base map and tb's that are ready to fit. works out far easier and cheaper in the end. I charge between £1500-£1800 for the above.
