After months and months of shaking car/steering wheel, the old girl is finally (should be) going to be checked over...

Hope they can sort out the bloody problem, my main concern is that I want to sell her this time next year and I can't sell it with the current problem

They are going to re-balance my wheels & tracking then check over for worn bushes and joints etc etc...

Hope they find the fault and it's not too expensive

my corsa was 'shaking' at speeds over 40mph.....it was tracking and one front wheel wasn't balanced properly.

cost me 15 quid and problem gone

or it could be tyre pressures, my blade wheels were bastards unless you pumped them up to 2.4 bar then it stopped shaking

This might seem like a silly question but what pressure should i pump my other alloys up too? I just had them on 30 psi front 28 back (standard setup)

If it shakes above a certain speed and doesnt go away then it could be a defective tyre, I had one which developed a bulge in it. Only way you could see it was by jacking one side up and starting it up and driving the wheel, you could see it as it spun

Just got a call from my mate (his mate is the mechanic at the garage) he said that he is working tomorrow but he's gonna phone the guy at the garage and get them to check over my car for as cheap as possible!

He said it could be that I have flat spots in the alloy wheels (I do slightly on two of the wheels but they are at the back) but the shaking happens if I have either set of alloys on!!!

Ok Update, two guys looked over the car this morning and found that some of the weights had fallen off the fox alloys and therefore weren't balanced...

and there is play in the right hand side (drivers side) track rod end!!!

All in all cost me £6 (for them to check the car and re-balance the front two wheels)

Gonna buy a pair of track rod ends at the end of the month

Whenever I have a 'shakey' car I take it straight to have the wheel balancing checked, it pisses me off soooo much! And it's not exactly expensive
