would a main dealer normally buy a car from you? I have a 2007 mini cooper convertible and am looking to sell it but have not had much luck with it on ebay etc. If i took it to mini would they buy it from me, as im getting a diesel in the next couple of weeks.

They will buy it, but for really cheap.
Dad once had a 520i SE. Bought it for something like £13k. Then needed to sell it 1 year later to free up cash, and they offered him £8k to buy it back

if you part-ex it against the new one they will give you a better price to secure the sale of the replacement.

no, wanting to go older, bigger and diesel...just wanting to sell it to be honest, so possibly not the best option

oh, thought you meant a diesel mini.
when i just turned 17 i tried to sell my kawasaki ar50 to a local garage. they wouldn'y buy it outright, but stuck it in their showroom, sold it on my behalf, then sent me a cheque for 90% (iirc) of the sale price.
i tried asking around when i needeed to shift my civic coupe, but they said they'd buy it for trade price which wasn't enough of what it was worth to me.

They will pay you a lot less,
my girlfriends dad was offered £16,000 for his Audi that is worth £25,000 in a private sale.

Come to think of it I also sold my Golf GTI (Mk V) to a dealer as well, 14 months old, SatNav, 6CD Changer, Leather, Xenons, Black Pearl, Cruise, 18s... 12k and they paid £20k
Was a bit of a one-off though as they promised my car to someone else so I just forced them to up the price
This was last April
