Ok not corsa related but still vauxhall
I need a new slam panel welded in on the cav. The previous owner has butcherd it at some points for some other headlights to fit in so now the standard jobbies dont sit right.
Ive been qouted 100 quid to weld in a new slam panel the actual part new is 20 quid not sure if the 100 pound was for the part aswell but my question is does this sound right ie 80-100 quid to weld a slam panel in i think its abit much but im not sure any help?

Imo thats alot to weld a panel in! maybe be alright if they were suplying the panel to!

Way too much IMO.....50 quid would be the max, it's not a big job like.

I geve a guy £90 to weld a patch on 2x inner arches & weld the rusted abs sensor mount....if thats anything to go by.
Im now learning to weld myself & bought myself a welder

Depends how hes welding it on really. What car is it? He migging it or spot welding it? Does that inclue painting it after?

to be fair it is a rather big job everything off the front end needs removing and it needs all the welds drilling out its not exactly an easy job. 100 quid seems like a fair price to me

100 quid is for nothing, u guys have no idea the work in welding in a new slam panel and making sure its right
strip the whole car down
remove old panel
fit new panel and line the front of the car up
welds in new front panel
paint
rebuild
not a chance would i do that for 100 quid.
sinnerboy if i ever need one fitted i reckon ill bring it to you and you can do it for 50 quid max

What you people don't understand is; the person doing the work doesn't just lash it on in about 10 mins.

@ StevieXE..Strip the whole car down?..Really?...Id normally leave the doors on for this job..And TBH i dont think a welder would be doing the last 2 steps you mentioned!
Im a welder by trade and it just seems a bit steep to me but i guess people can charge what they want for this kind of work because not many welders could be bothered doing it..

I would imagine by strip he means the parts that need removing in order to fit the slam panel.

to be fair the bumper can stay the bonnet can stay maybe need to move radiator but thats about it for strippage

Would you blame the guy for asking £100 so in that case...Maybe if the guy got it ready for him first and put it back together himself it would cut down the labour time and the overall price?

I was doing some tig welding today.....its bloody difficult!! It was just a scrap containor I was patching some holes on, I can only imagine car panels are 10x harder.

Of course, but if you've not go the facility to weld, you probably don't have the facility to strip or indeed remove the old metal. And if you want the customer to strip, how are they going to deliver the car with a loose radiator and no headlights (sharp edges - illegal).
The actually coalescence process, probably yes not worth much, but that doesn't represent the entire job.

to get a FULL new front end on my nova, inner wings repaired and metal inner wheel arches repaired it cost £150
