all hype and no substance
it just wasn't half the game it was supposed to be. This video was released like 3 years ago and you can see the difference: http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=spore+30+min+demonstration&emb=0&aq=0&oq=spore+30#
At some point after the initial videos, someone realized that all that awesome tech didn't work that well for a mass market(as in, for retards) game; so they took out the whole "evolving a creature" thing and left you with a shitty stat based game with a pretty, though 100% useless, character editor. Shame.
