is there any reason as to why it would have turned out dull.
i followed the tutorial, i sanded down with p80 first, then smoothed it with 320 till i had a nice finish. Wiped with white spirits. Primered, painted an laquered(which i heated 1st)
and it turned out dull? =s

2-3 coats. is that too much, and if so, would that cause it to go dull?

At a guess I would say not enough paint. You shouldnt need laquer to get a shine. It should be pretty shiney before laquer.

it should be shiny at all before lacquer, if it was the lacquer wouldnt key to the paint and it will just peel after a few weeks, the reason its praps dull is because ur using cans

I'd go over it with some higher grit wet and dry mate. 320 is still pretty rough!
Before painting you ideally need want to use 800 to get it really smooth. Then when you've primed it leave it to dry and go over it with some 1200  super smooth then hit it with some paint (I usually do it in 3 coats) followed by a few coats of laquer 
Or if your after a mint finish i'd just get it done at a bodyshop will have a must higher quality finish compared to rattle cans

so prime it then rub it down again? obviously, if i can get it right and looking tidy and with a good shine from doing it myself the i will.
If i have to get it to a bodyshop i will do.
lol what a fucker. was quite pleased with myself half way through the day, thinking it would look good. Then it turns out like that

Oooops my bad.. I seem to get a pretty smooth finish with cans before laquer then just looks alot better with laquer.

im guessing if its real smooth to start with, then i will get a nice enough finish before laquer and then obviouly the laquer will just finish it off
