The arches are part of the bodyshell and not interchangeable?

There is a small trim part which fits forward of the rear arch, but not the entire arch.

Skirts won't fit.

You can put a GSI front on a coupe/convertible but as Ian has mentioned the arches are part of the shell and are the same.

Mk4 3door skirts won't fit a coupe/convertible so you'll have to look for alternatives. Irmscher/Reiger do some nice ones, same with the rear also. Or you can go down the factory styling and get irmscher rear bump skirts

You cannot buy 888 'merchandise' without your v5 present, proving that you own one.

As far as I'm aware
