Just checking...
If you record something on a SKY+ box, can you then unplug the box, take it to another house that doesn't have SKY and play the recordings?
Cheers

Yeah, I realise that. I just need a definite answer rather than a guess, sorry. I just didn't know if it checks that there's a sky feed or something for some daft reason.

I'm not 100% sure if it plays without a sky connection.
Easy way to find out is disconnect the dish connections and see if it plays.

Didn't make any difference when I unplugged the box to move it to a different room

Unplug the box, take it to a TV which doesnt have Sky connection and try it on there, also try it with the card plugged in and unplugged

Or just take the 2 dish connectors out the back without moving it.
I was that annoyed at the stupid suggestions I tried it myself, works fine.

Nice one, John
It's actually me borrowing the box, so couldn't test it myself.
I remember the old analogue boxes used to fry if they didn't have the sky lead in.

Scrap that, unplugged everything including power to be 100%, put it all back in, won't let me get into it now, only works if the power hasn't been removed since it lost signal by the looks of it.
Anytime TV works though

Anytime TV? What's that?
Conway had success tho
Basically, my mate is on setanta on monday night. I told him i'd put it onto DVD for him. The putting it onto DVD bit, etc is easy. It's just the fact I don't have SKY and even if I did, I wouldn't subscribe to Setanta
Is that a big no-go then? Need an alternative

Anytime is just when it downloads random stuff to the hard drive for you to watch whenever, kind of like an on demand service.
Best bet would be get him to record it then take the dvd recorder to the sky box.

True, but that means me being inconvenienced to do him a favour

I was supposed to be putting our 5 seconds of fame from titp on dvd from my sky+ and I haven't because it's too much hassle to bring the dvd recorder upstairs

Seriously, what's my alternative?
My mate (at work) is on Setanta on Monday night. That "Live: Football Matters" chat show thing at 10:15pm after the city game (he's a big man city supporter) with his dad Promised them I'd record it and put it on the net, dvd, facebook, etc.
Looks like I'll have to go round his. The funny thing is, i've had this DVD Recorder/HDD thing sat there for like 6months and never once recorded anything on it I best get familiar with it before I take it round and look like a badger

Give it a go then brett and see what the score is, I couldn't get it to go into the planner where the recorded programs are, curious to see now.

Worst comes to worst, i'll just go to his gaff. TBH, I live in an appartment and it has a SKY port already behind the TV. So, in theory, if he gives me his card too, i'll have SKY for the evening anyway
