What are they saved as? aac files?

Pretty much my new car is six weeks off. It has blue and me with a usb port..

Now there is a known issue with ipod compatability.. pretty much the car only recognises windows media files as it was built around it..

Anyway to convert my files so they are the correct format on my iphone?

iPod will take AAC & MP3. iTunes can convert between the two. Surely the car's stereo will work with MP3?

The iPod supports MP3 & WAV. MP3 will be your best bet, as WAV files take a lot of space.
In iTunes, in Preferences set the Import Settings to MP3. Then, in the music browser, you can right click anything that isn't MP3 and choose 'Convert to MP3'. It works if you select a few at a time, too.

In whatever folder your iTunes Library is set to. It adds them straight to iTunes, so you can go through and delete the file in the other format.
