Help, think ive got a virus on my computer, it mysteriously restarted last night, then booted up with something called Trend chips on guard during start up, then nothing loaded up, not even any AV program, and kept restarting itself.

logged in via safe mode and went on the internet to look at some AV sites and every google'd AV site it re-directed me to some dodgy site like go.google which i assume its the virus doing it.

i restored the system to 2 weeks prior and it booted up ok, quickly installed ESET AV program and updated definitions, once again it restarted, but it started up ok, scanned, removed everything - advised that some components were removed from XP and that i should insert an XP pro disc which i dont have....as it may become unstable, so it restarted again, dont know what caused it, then i downloaded Adaware and removed as much adware as it would allow.

i dont know whats happened, and what am i at risk from, am i ok in browsing the net as i am in confidence like banking sites etc? im getting a bit paranoid to what happened to my computer now..

site i went on was some geocities site, clicked it and loadsa windows opened and computer forze a bit, i knew something was wrong, it restarted about 20min after opened it...

can any1 advise me of any more programs i should use to check that its still secure?

i.e its connected through a wired router, can it make me dial up a premium phone number while im on the internet?
