Been using the latest one for a couple of months, much better than the release before which I uninstalled within 5 minutes.

I like the search feature and there's other nice improvements.

One I found out today was the browse in private, it starts a session that it doesn't store any details of.

I like the way Microsoft put a positive spin on this InPrivate thing

"InPrivate Browsing
Keep Internet Explorer 8 from adding any sites you visit to Browsing History with InPrivate Browsing. Now you can shop for that special gift with confidence knowing your family won't accidentally find out."

Source Microsoft.com

It could however read:

InPrivate Browsing
Keep Internet Explorer 8 from adding any of the filthy dhurty sites you visit to Browsing History with InPrivate Browsing. Now you can browse for that perfect porn film with confidence knowing your family won't accidentally find out.

Agreed. It was silly to release that, it just wasnt compatible with anything, even hotmail.

I've tried the latest build and whilst its alot more stable/compatible, I also uninstalled it and think i'll wait.

So basically they reworked a privacy feature that they already had?

Who cares, sites are built for IE, as long as they work I don't care how.

What does IE7 have similar to inprivate?

Suppose, it's handy to only forget about some things though.

I currently use opera for the same purpose

That's not really the same at all.

Going to browse certain sites in private is totally different from deleting your whole browsing history.

Yes but IE is a buggy POS, when any web designer worth their salt designs a website they have to use CSS hacks specifically for IE because it's so crap = more work and hassle for the designer.

I actually use Firefox now as my main browser, I know FF (and well any browser for that matter) isn't perfect but it's much better (and faster) than IE.

It's not really faster, different builds of one are faster than different builds of the other, they swap about but not by much.

Opera is faster than them both.

If IE built some decent dev tools (ie Firebug) I'd develop in it. Thats the only thing that REALLY annoys me!

Opera only has like 0.75% browser market share, no-one really uses it! Firefox is more popular at 20%.

I agree with your statement about different builds, but from my own personal experience Firefox 2 and 3 have always been faster than IE6 & 7. I can't comment on IE8 though as I've not tried it out yet.
