Ive bought myself a k770i off ebay, vodafone branded.
It accepts my orange contract sim..
But I want to be 100% its unlocked as It needs to be for when I go to australia and fit a new simcard

If you can use your orange sim in it it's unlocked.

Go on "service info" and it should have a 'locks' option or somethin like that, I forget. It'll tell you what's unlocked and what's not anyway.

just performed this on my old k850i as i like you jas am going back to oz in feb and want to buy a payt sim when im over there instead of running up a hoooooj bill
there should be a submenu along the lines of "service info" then "sim lock" and it will give you some padlocks that will either be locked otr unlocked

Phones are well cheap in this country now, like £30. Surely they're that cheap in Oz?

2 good sites for you to have a look at jas
www.0044.co.uk - this site you can get a simcard and also theres a good number that people here can use to re-route the call and it will only cost them 8p per min to call your oz mobile number
www.unimobiles.com - another place to get a simcard
personally im gonna get a sim before i leave and then give my missus/parents the re-route number so they can ring me for cheap and then it wont cost me to recieve either
i used my mobile as i would normally when i was there for 2 weeks in jan with calls being made/recieved and also sending/recieving txts and mms and i had a shocker of a bill a few weeks after i got home
