Is there much difference between a good quality branded FMIC such as a forge motorsport one (just been outbid for it)

and an ebay cheapy?

about 4 times the price difference sooo just wondered if someone could shed some light onto the matter?

manythanks, jack

Forge ones are put together by a reputable company. Ebay ones are put together by a yoke in a shed.
But tbh not heard a bad thing about them yet.

The thing you'll find is that the Forge one might be 4 times more expensive but you won't have to replace unlike an ebay one, so the cost of replacing them, you might aswell get Forge as it is better quality metal and will last.

[Edit- I had this convo with my tutor at college, as he brought an ebay one for his S14, because he didn't want to pay for a Forge, he has a Forge one now, as the ebay one broke quickly.]

The quality of the core probably won't be quite as good as the Forge one.

For a small boost application they're decent enough.

You could spend £400 on a forge or £100 on a cheapy 1.Hit a bird or small animal or something on the road and theyr both gonna be fuked.

Even the Ebay non branded 1s will be as good.

Alot of the pulsar boys are running 1.1-1.5 bar thro an Ebay jobbie without problems and see good gains.

There used to be a company on ebay that did loads of generic FMIC.. I bought one and it was actually blooded good. I tested it with a heat gun set to 250 degrees and measured the temperature at the out let, it as 27 degrees

Cheaper ones havent had as much R&D, so you will probably get more of a pressure drop (more lag) than a more expensive item.
