Have a look on Ford forums, they have good tips and stuff for doing it. I'm just going to strip mine back as far as I can and prime and use hammerite or maybe stone guard, this should do me as its only a summer/weekend car

Dont use stonechips or brush on underseal. it will start to sag over time, then it will let water in and hold it. Causing rust.
If your using underseal make sure its blown on with a compressor, using a few coats but lightly each time you blow over.

As for painting, for best results you need to take all underseal off to the metal. Then reunderseal it with black underseal. You can then take it too a painter who will put it on stands or a ramp if they have one and will blast it with 2k paint, colour of your choice. Or you can have a go yourself.
This is my novas arches after being painted. Looks much better than hammerite.

Just make sure the under side is bone dry.
Or you'll trap moisture in.

just use underseal whos guna see the underside anyway. i thought rust provention was the main idea and underseal must be good enough on its own without paint on top.
