Just a quick bit of advice really, just done this quick shop of my car but i've no idea how to change the colour of things, and to keep the detail. ie i can get the (in this instance) wheels white, but you can't see any of the detail, if that makes sense

i know its likely to be something really simple, but i've been fucking about for a while, and google isn't being terribly helpful

Use the magic wand on the wheels and change the tolerance til you only get the silver bits then wack up the brightness and contrast, than adjust the saturation and hue to suit the lighting.

If they're still in a layer, just make them black & white and brighten them and put the contrast up a touch.

He wants them white so Variations won't be much help. Plus that's the same in CS3, and 2 iirc. I didn't have 1.

Do what Whittie or Butler said.

just changing to black and white and then brightness:

Then this one was variations method:

if i spent longer cutting it out it would have been slightly better but i see your point still works though
